Best BC Wedding Venues
Definitely, one of the best parts about being a wedding photographer in BC is getting to shoot in some fantastic locations.
I’ve been lucky enough to photograph weddings in a wide range of settings, from beachfront lodges to old stately homes to boutique hotels – and just about everywhere in between! I have made a list of my top ten wedding venues in BC to help you narrow down the many options this beautiful province has to offer:
Situated in the heart of the Okanagan valley, God’s Mountain Estate is a breathtaking location spread over 115 acres. This rustic setting is ideal for capturing some stunning wedding photography, with vineyards and Mediterranean trees setting the scene perfectly against the backdrop of BC’s sweeping mountains. The estate is a short drive from Penticton, where the wedding party can enjoy local shopping, restaurants and water activities.
Bodega Ridge is a unique location for a wedding in British Columbia. Located on Galiano Island, this 22-acre property is available for exclusive hire. Beautiful for summer and winter weddings alike, this property offers the capacity for both stunning beach wedding photography as well as a countryside setting.
Rowena’s Inn on the River overlooks the waters of the Harrison River, and has the capacity to host large weddings – great for couples planning a big celebratory do! This picturesque building is filled with feature fireplaces and other majestic touches, helping you and your guests take a step back in time. You can fill your wedding album with photography taken against the beautiful scenery, or indoors amongst the English-inspired décor.
The Painted Boat Resort is situated in the heart of the Sunshine Coast, and provides plenty of opportunity for some fun wedding photography poses. As a couple or as a group, you can explore the private marina, the surrounding woodlands, or the warm and inviting interiors throughout. Accommodation on-site makes it ideal if you have a large number of guests flying in to attend.
Want a peaceful venue overlooking the Okanagan Valley? The Serenata Guesthouse Retreat is nothing short of perfect. You can enjoy an intimate wedding or a large-scale, lavish affair amongst the woodland settings. The private hillside environment offers plenty in the way of beautiful views, the dream backdrop against which you can enjoy a truly unforgettable wedding. There is accommodation enough for the wedding party too, so you can enjoy this magical venue with your nearest and dearest.
Surrounded by the Cascade Mountain range, Fraser River Lodge is truly one-of-a-kind. The incredible scenery acts as the perfect backdrop for some truly incredible wedding photographs, and despite the remote and peaceful feel, you are only an hour away from busy Vancouver. You can have the ceremony and reception on site, with packages available for small groups of 50 up to larger groups of 200.
The Cheakamus Center is actually a center for environmental conservation that doubles up nicely as an incredible wedding venue. The natural woodland setting sprawls over 420 acres, making it great for the couple in want of something a little different and close to nature.
This venue is located on Vancouver Island, just a short drive from Tofino to provide guests with easy transport connections. This large venue has plenty of natural light, and is surrounded by greenery and nature, ideal for both indoor and outdoor wedding photography in Vancouver. You can hold receptions for up to 140 people in the variety of different rooms, so you can plan the wedding you’ve always dreamed of.
This farm setting is great for the couple planning a rustic wedding with a rural feel. It is a small, boutique hotel located in Kelowna, with numerous different options available for the ceremony and reception. Whether you want five guests or fifty, you can have the intimate wedding of your dreams at Bottega Farm Inn.
For the couple marrying in Whistler, this venue has plenty to offer. A center dedicated to the First Nations by day, by night, this venue can host wedding receptions in the large circular main room. It’s a different type of venue, but one that still provides all the luxuries you want with the facilities you need.
This European-inspired resort is especially beautiful for winter weddings. The terrace overlooking the Okanagan Lake can be used for ceremonies, and is a great spot for photographs, especially with the majestic Monashee Mountains in the background.
